BOURNEMOUTH IMAX CONSULTATION: MOST FAVOUR TROPICAL GARDENS THE people have spoken – and the most popular choice to replace the much-hated IMAX building on Bournemouth’s seafront is tropical gardens. More than 3,500 people took part in public consultation over seven possible options for the prestigious site near Bournemouth Pier. Supporters of the tropical gardens thought they would blend in well with the surroundings, providing a relaxing attraction without interfering with the sea views. The second-favourite option was an all-weather water park, although opponents expressed concern over the potential height of the building and water slides and its possible “tacky” appearance. In third place was an interactive arts, museum and entertainment development; and fourth came a performing arts space or amphitheatre.
