Levvel, the UK's leading independent housing and planning consultancy, were invited to speak at an international housing conference in Vancouver.
'The Inclusive City - Affordable housing strategies for the new economy' took place at the Simon Fraser University on 2 June 2009, and was sponsored by British Columbia Housing. The conference included presentations from four organisations from the UK, California and Vancouver and was followed by a question and answer session.
Stuart Woodward and Simon Mitchell from Levvel gave an overview of the UK housing environment, focusing on their successes in the supply of viable, inclusive and sustainable affordable housing and finished by looking ahead to the problems created by the changing property market. www.levvel.co.uk
Levvel were joined by San Francisco based Seifel Consulting, local housing consultant Tim Wake, and Vancouver based architect Gregory Henriquez. Henriquez Partners Architects are responsible for the impressive Woodward’s redevelopment, which combines market and social housing, along with commercial/retail and institutional arts space, all of which are designed to be socially, environmentally and economically sustainable. www.woodwardsdistrict.com
