| BOURNEMOUTH AIR FESTIVAL 2009 - by the sea and completely free! The largest event of its kind, not only in the town’s history but in the country, it is without a doubt a festival not to be missed. This year promises to bring even more aviation thrills, breathtaking displays; awesome jets and superb family fun… so buckle up and get ready for a holiday bonanza! Taking place on 20th – 23rd August 2009, between Bournemouth and Boscombe Piers, festival-goers can expect to see the world-famous Red Arrows, the Sea Vixen vintage jet, heart-stopping Black Cats Helicopter Display, the iconic Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and adrenaline pumping Eurofighter Typhoon. Not forgetting that in 2009 The Royal Navy will be celebrating 100 years of Naval Aviation so there will no doubt be some incredible activity and action. In addition to the sky-high displays there will also be one and a half miles of trade stands, stalls and food and drink available between the Piers as well as a planned veteran’s area for people to share stories and experiences. The Army, Royal Air Force and Royal Navy are all expected to be in attendance with mock-up cockpits, model jets, tanks and ship-to-shore Naval tours. ![]() Bournemouth Air Festival’s entertainment doesn’t stop with the roar of amazing planes, as the fun continues into the evening with great entertainment for the whole family to enjoy. There are plans for a jam-packed line-up of attractions throughout the award-winning Gardens and the town centre. Bournemouth Air Festival 2008 included the stunning Hot Air Balloon Glow and mesmerising Heliosphere – details of the entertainment line-up for 2009 will be confirmed nearer the time.
